President David Lindner thanked the competitors who travelled to the Kapunda Rifle Club on the 9th September, to compete at the Club’s annual Open Prize Meeting. Numbers were again affected by events interstate, this time with a lower representation of T/R shooters. David thanked the portion of the club members and their partners who gave their time in support of their Club. Particular appreciation goes out to the ladies who staffed the kitchen and especially to Teresa B who planned and prepared much of the meal. The ladies included Lisa Ziersch, Monica Davies, Lynnette Dayman and Louise Smithson and Pt Pirie visitor Lisa Wilkes. John Scobie ably managed the BBQ area again this year. Markers and range workers included Peter Larsen, Peter Dayman, Lindsay Mullins, Barry Kalleske, Jerome Ziersch, Dave Shepherd, Tim Andrews, Graham Davies, and the Ziersch boys, and of course, captain Eddie Kanik. The usual crew attended the working bee the day before, and their contribution was noted. Special thanks to Steve Smithson and John Hoerisch for target preparation. JJ was his usual good-humoured self in the wet area. There are bound to be people whose contribution has not been noted here, but the omission says more about the state of the Secretary’s over-loaded head than the level of appreciation applied.

Sponsors and trophy donors are especially appreciated; Adam Pohl, Peter Larsen, Steve Smithson, Peter Heuppoff, Mick Schemmeld, Simon Barrie, Langmeil Wines, Les Williams, and a special thankyou to David Pumpa and Wayne Cailes for the opal setting, which has been valued by Wayne at around $1,000.00 – $1,200.00.

A big thanks to Alison Hansen for helping before the event with the NRAA setup, and standing by on the phone on Sunday, Adam Pohl for working in the office, and the chaps who stayed back and helped re-load vehicle and trailer with all of the equipment.

At the completion of the proceedings, a special presentation was held for 3 very special Kapunda members. SARA recognised 50 and 60 year memberships with a Certificate and a lapel badge. These were enthusiastically presented by club member Les Williams to Peter Dayman (50 years membership) and Geoff Neldner and David Lindner, both with a massive 60 year record. See the photos below.

We all hope that we continue to see these 3 in the movement for years to come yet. Again, thank you to all of the visitors who make the effort of holding these events worthwhile.

Congratulations Lynton.

170 years membership between them, David “Butch” Lindner, Geoff Neldner and Peter Dayman.
